(CBS) As if the Bulls being down 2-0 in their first-round series against the Wizards wasn’t enough, fans around here have had to endure being trolled by Washington guard Bradley Beal’s belief in pizza tastes for two days straight now.
At Tuesday’s shootaround before Washington’s 101-99 overtime win against Chicago later in the evening, Beal was asked about how his experience eating Giordano’s deep dish pizza on Monday night went.
“I can’t eat that fat pie piece, whatever it’s called,” Beal responded, according to the Washington Post. “Deep dish pizza, I can’t eat that. I got the regular thin one. I didn’t eat a lot because I heard it’ll just sit there and you’ll be in the bathroom for hours.”
Then after last night’s win, Beal was asked what allowed him to get into a rhythm in a contest in which he scored a game-high 26 points. At the end, a reporter jokingly asked if he was going to credit thin-crust pizza for the success.
“Chicago pizza’s not better than St. Louis pizza, though,” Beal reiterated. “I’ll tell you that.”
To be fair, Beal wasn’t going out of his way way to rip on deep dish; he simply gave his honest answer.
Although we still need a couple more answers in all this: What exactly is St. Louis-style pizza? What makes it so special?
