St. Louis Radio Station Jokes About Bounty On Blackhawks' Bickell, But Not Everyone Took It As A Joke

(CBS) Well, the Blackhawks-Blues Western Conference first-round series is really heating up on the airwaves now, too, ahead of tonight's pivotal Game 5.

The hosts of "The Fast Lane" on Friday afternoon on ESPN 101 radio in St. Louis joked about raising money for a bounty on Blackhawks winger Bryan Bickell. Apparently not everyone took it as a joke, though -- certainly not on Twitter -- as the hosts claimed to have had $4,825 committed before having to make it clear that they weren't being serious.

"Apparently, management is not too happy with us," one of the co-hosts said. "For those of you who don't understand, we were just playing around and kidding.

"We had 4,825 dollars committed. So it was probably going to go to charity when Bickell was knocked out of the game. Well, it was going to go to charity, since the players couldn't take it.

"We'd never really advocate a bounty, but you get what we were saying about this guy. He's earned it."

The beef with Bickell likely stems from the two knee-to-knee hits he delivered to Blues players in Game 2.
