11-Year-Old Girl Scared To Leave Home After Being Shot

CHICAGO (CBS) -- At 11-years-old, Tymisha Washington should be out jumping rope or playing with friends. Instead, the Chicago 5th grader is recovering from two gunshots.

Tymisha was with her cousin and friends at their school park early Easter night when they started walking to a neighborhood Citgo for some snacks. That's when someone drove by and started shooting - hitting five children. Tymisha was shot in the chin and in the chest.

"I was running this lady helped me," said Tymisha.

The woman tried to stop Tymisha's bleeding with a towel.

"Whoever she is I would like to thank her very much. She didn't have to do what she did for my daughter," said Kamishe Washington.

Now, despite a punctured lung, dislocated rib and collarbone, Tymisha is home - where she'll be home-schooled for the rest of the year.

Tymisha's mother says she is scared to go out the door and even afraid to go back to school

"They could come back around and do it again," said Tymisha.

Detectives have shown some of the victims pictures of cars and possible suspects to try to find those responsible but so far, police say they've made no arrests.
