EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) — A man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in north suburban Evanston, police said.

The man, whose age was not immediately known, was driving a motorcycle northbound in the 300 block of Sheridan Road about 7:40 a.m. when he lost control and crashed, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

Parrott said the man was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed and was not wearing a helmet. No one else was injured in the crash.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality Saturday morning.

Sheridan Road was closed between South Boulevard and West Juneway Terrace in Chicago as Evanston police and the Major Crash Assistance Team investigate.
