Mothers Celebrated During Special Mass At Holy Name

CHICAGO (CBS) — A special Mass was held Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral for expectant mothers.

Cardinal Francis George said a special blessing to mothers to be and a silk rose and medal of St Gerard, the patron saint of expectant mothers were handed out.

Parishioners say the extra attention is welcome. Katie’s son Owen was born a special needs child.

“He is tiny for his age and had some medical things for a while. Now we are all good so it is a joyous occasion,” she said.

She says a mother’s devotion to her child is endless so a little bit of recognition is welcome.
