Marshall Henderson Backtracks After Making Homophobic Tweets About Michael Sam

(CBS) Marshall Henderson's eligibility at Ole Miss is up, but his time in the spotlight isn't, thanks in large part to social media.

After Sportscenter showed a clip of Michael Sam -- the first openly gay player to ever be drafted in NFL history after the Rams took him in the seventh round -- kissing his partner after his big moment, Henderson tweeted that he's, "Boycotting sportscenter til this michael sam nasty ***  !@#$ is off .... My brothers are 7 and 11 and saw that!!! #SICKENING"

Later, he backtracked, claiming he was doing a friend in a psychology class a favor by eliciting feedback for a class project of his friend's.

Here's how it all played out this morning on Twitter. Even if Henderson is telling the truth, it's still a horribly timed and immature study to conduct.

And then came Henderson's explanation, which you may consider a reason or an excuse -- but judging from Henderson's history, probably an excuse.
