Proviso East High School To Reopen Wednesday After Fire Damages School

(CBS) -- Proviso East High School will reopen Wednesday after the school was damaged by a fire last Saturday.

School officials cancelled Monday and Tuesday classes which they say will not be made up in the school at 807 S. First Street.

Ten rooms were heavily damaged by the three-alarm blaze which broke out 7 p.m. Saturday in a second floor office while parents were attending a play.

Fire officials said everyone was escorted safely out of the building.

Students who ride the bus will be dropped off and picked up near the Stadium gate on Madison Street. Proviso East also will be operating on a late start schedule.
