White Sox Place Abreu On DL, Activate Eaton

(CBS) -- The White Sox have placed first baseman Jose Abreu on the 15-day disabled list with posterior tibia tendonitis in his left ankle.

Chicago also activated center fielder Adam Eaton from the DL.

Abreu, 27, is hitting .260 and leading the major leagues in home runs (15) and is second in RBIs (42) in his first season after signing with the White Sox. The rookie is the reigning American League Player and Rookie of the Month for April.

Eaton, 25, has been on the DL since May 3 with a strained hamstring. Eaton is hitting .276 with 20 runs scored in 25 games this season.
