Woman Dies After Being Pulled From Montrose Harbor

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman died after firefighters pulled her from Montrose Harbor Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were notified at 5:48 p.m. about a person in the water at 501 W. Montrose Ave., and crews pulled her out about 30 minutes later, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The woman has been identified as 42-year-old Caroline Heider, of the 6700 block of Harding Avenue in Lincolnwood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was taken to Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m., the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy Sunday was inconclusive pending further studies.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
