CHICAGO (CBS) -- There is now a $10,000 reward being offered in the investigation into the recent theft of assault rifles from a South Side rail yard.

"We're hoping that maybe this reward today will spark some interest and citizens to come forward to help us recover these guns," said ATF spokesman Tom Ahern.

13 rifles were stolen from a freight container parked in a rail yard on the 6100 block of South Lafayette two weeks ago.

"We're hoping that we will be able to recover these rifles before they do end up in the wrong hands," said Ahern.
