Prominent Neurosurgeon Charged With Public Indecency

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Dr. Jeffrey Frank is charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct and CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports, it's not the first time he's been arrested.

Frank built one of the most reputable neuro-intensive care programs in the country.

Police say Frank was performing a sex act in front of an open window at a Deerfield hotel. The window looks out onto a public area. Two juveniles saw him. Frank allegedly continued the sex act, while partially closing the curtains.

This is not the first time Frank has been accused of lewd behavior. Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation documents show:

In 2002, Frank is arrested for public indecency and lewd exposure at a Vernon Hills tanning salon

In 2006, the doctor is arrested by Wilmette Police for exposing himself to a group of teenage girls. He admits to the incident in a written statement.

In 2011, he's accused of performing a sex act behind a group of 14 year old girls on an Evanston beach.

Documents show in 2007, Frank is placed on indefinite probation for a minimum of five years, because he was undergoing treatment. At the doctor's home, a woman answering the door told us, "Not guilty."

University of Chicago Medicine issued a statement that says in part:
Medical Center leadership very recently learned of the pending charges against Dr. Frank, and his clinical privileges were immediately suspended. As the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation's public filing notes, Dr. Frank's medical license and corresponding privileges at the University of Chicago Medical Center have been subject to regular monitoring by the state since 2007.
