Aurora Boy Seriously Injured After Bike Struck By Vehicle

AURORA, Ill. (STMW) -- A 12-year-old Aurora boy was seriously injured Wednesday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in the western suburb.

Police said the boy was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk near Frost Drive and South Eola Road around 6:35 a.m. when he was struck while attempting to cross the street, the Beacon-News is reporting.

Police said a 54-year-old Aurora woman was turning northbound onto Eola Road from Frost Drive when she hit the boy.

The victim was seriously injured and taken to an Aurora hospital. Police said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

The woman, who police have not named, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at an intersection. She was not injured, police said.
