Stepson Of Peoria State Rep. Killed In Early Morning Shooting

(CBS) – The 22-year-old stepson of a state representative died in a shooting early Saturday morning in Peoria.

Derrick Booth Jr., the stepson of Democratic State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth and the son of Peoria Manual basketball coach Derrick Booth Sr. was fatally shot outside a residence on the 800 block of S. Greenlawn Avenue.

Police responded to the scene at around 2:30 a.m. and found Booth on the front porch. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not identified a suspect.
