Man Slain In South Side Carjacking

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot and killed Tuesday night in a carjacking in the Ashburn neighborhood on the South Side.

Police said two men approached the 21-year-old man and announced a robbery as he sat in a black Ford Expedition around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of South 80th Street.

The victim was shot in the chest, and the two robbers took off in the SUV, leaving him bleeding on the street.

The 21-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.

Area Central detectives were investigating, and police were still searching for the suspects and the stolen SUV as of Wednesday morning.
