CHICAGO (STMW) — Police are questioning a “person of interest” after a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

A 59-year-old woman was riding her bike in the 2900 block of South Poplar Avenue about 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck her, police said. The driver did not stop and the vehicle kept going east.

The woman was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was pronounced dead at 6:08 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Her name remained withheld Friday morning pending notification of her family.
