Galaxy Tie Fire 1-1

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) — Landon Donovan scored in the 74th minute to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-1 tie with the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

Donovan has three goals in two games since he was left off the U.S. World Cup team roster. After going scoreless in his first six matches, he scored twice in Los Angeles' 4-1 victory over Philadelphia last Sunday.

Robbie Keane set up the goal, forced a turnover by Fire midfielder Chris Ritter. The Galaxy's Robbie Rogers tracked down the ball to the right of the goal and fed the wide-open Donovan on the left.

Los Angeles (4-3-4) extended its unbeaten streak to three matches at 1-0-2. Chicago (2-3-7) is 2-1-1 in its last four games.

Fire captain Jeff Larentowicz converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute.

The kick was awarded when forward Quincy Amarikwa was cut down by Galaxy midfielder Juninho. The foul was committed a step outside the penalty area, but referee Hilario Grajeda awarded the penalty kick anyway, and Larentowicz converted for his third goal of the season.

Keane missed a great chance in the 61st minute, firing wide on goalkeeper Sean Johnson after a perfect feed from Stefan Ishizaki.

Donovan's goal was Los Angeles' only on-target shot. Johnson made no saves, while Galaxy goalkeeper Jamie Penedo made two.

Chicago forward Mike Magee, last year's league MVP, missed the game because of a calf injury.
