Gary School Board Votes To Close Six Schools

(CBS) — Big changes are in store for the Gary school system and more than 2,000 students.

Prompted by big budget deficits, the school board is closing six of its 17 schools.

The board voted to close the Lew Wallace STEM Academy, Dunbar-Pulaski Middle School, Watson Academy for Boys, Brunswick and Webster elementaries, and the Lincoln Achievement Center.
