Man Fatally Shot In Rogers Park

(STMW) – One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 1:45 p.m. found 18-year-old Alante Vallejo lying unresponsive in the street with a gunshot wound to his torso in the 1900 block of West Howard Street, authorities said.

Vallejo, of the 200 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston, was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

A second man, 20, later walked into NorthShore University HealthSystem Evanston Hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot, police said. He was listed in good condition.

Police said both men have gang affiliations.
