(CBS) — A park in the Loop took on a festival atmosphere at lunchtime Tuesday as the Chicago Loop Alliance seeks non-traditional ways of connecting people with the city and it’s businesses, reports WBBM’s Mike Krauser reports.
The Chicago Loop Alliance held an impromptu park party at Pritzker Park at State and Van Buren. The group says the event is part of its place-making initiative.
“It’s an initiative to make the Loop a higher-performing urban experience,” said Mike Edwards, the executive director of the alliance. “The park has always been a bit of an underperformer here on State Street, which is our objective to make State Street a great place so we have added tables and chairs, moveable tables and chairs, fixed tables and chairs, shelter so people can enjoy the park.”
The Chicago Loop Alliance has similar events planned for the entire summer to make use of lesser-used spaces.
