IDOT is warning motorists that driving on the Kennedy Expy this weekend will be a “different animal” compared with last weekend as workers complete demolition of a downtown bridge over the expressway. CBS 2’s Chris Martinez reports.
All westbound traffic will have to exit at Ohio and do a U-turn at Orleans, re-entering the Kennedy at Ontario.
Last weekend’s work – dismantling a bridge that spanned the inbound lanes – was completed well ahead of schedule, and traffic was not as bad as expected.
But Illinois Department of Transportation officials urged motorists not to assume that will happen again.
“It’s going to be a much different animal,” IDOT spokeswoman Jae Miller said Friday.
