CHICAGO (CBS) – A Chicago man has been charged with shooting at an SUV as he was driving on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Sunday night.
WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports Illinois State Police have charged 21-year-old Dantrel K. Fuller with aggravated assault.
Police said, around 10:20 p.m., he was driving south on the Dan Ryan when he opened fire on a black SUV near 79th Street.
The driver of the SUV swerved to avoid being hit by gunfire and rear-ended a third vehicle.
No one was injured in either the shooting or the crash.
Chicago police pulled over Fuller’s after he exited the expressway, and found a gun inside. Fuller and a female passenger were taken into custody. The woman was not charged.
Initially, police said it appeared the shooting was the result of road rage, but state police later said they’re still trying to figure out exactly what touched off the shooting.
