(CBS) — Jewel-Osco is opening five more stores at former Dominick’s locations. WBBM’s Bob Roberts checked out the story in Rogers Park.
Six months have passed since the old Dominick’s in Rogers Park closed. Shoppers say since then the neighborhood convenience stores that remain have charged sharply higher prices.
Diana Davenport says she even decided to take the bus to and from the Aldi’s on Granville.
“It’s quite a few things that Jewel will have that Aldi’s does not have and Dominick’s was extremely high. I love Jewel I love their sales so we have a great store in a great neighborhood,” said Davenport.
It also means more than 200 new jobs. Other stores are opening in at Division and Clybourn and in Merrionette Park, Fox River Grove and in Lake Zurich.
