Two Boys Accused Of Vandalizing Lansing Church

(CBS) — Two young boys have a date in juvenile court after they were accused of vandalizing a south suburban church, reports WBBM’s Regine Schlesinger.

The boys, just 9 and 10 years old, are accused of breaking into the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansing after services a week ago and making a mess of the place.

“It almost resembled a food fight somewhat with food being thrown about and paint was sprayed in different areas,” said Fabian Newman, a spokesman for the village.

Some musical instruments also were damaged. The church was cleaned up in time for regular Sunday services this past weekend.

Investigators determined the two young boys were responsible and arrested the children at their homes. Newman says their actions shouldn’t be seen as a reflection on the community.
