Report: Flyers Star Giroux Arrested For 'Repeatedly Grabbing Officer's Butt'

(CBS) When you're around police officers, it's best to keep your hands to yourself.

Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux found that out the hard way last night.

Giroux was arrested and spent the night in an Ottawa jail after "repeatedly grabbing the male police officer's butt during an incident" at a downtown bar, according to an Ottawa Sun report.

More from the Sun:

A witness and sources say the incident occurred at The Great Canadian Cabin in the Byward Market club district.

They say officers on routine patrols were inside the bar when one officer had his butt grabbed by a patron. The officer told the patron not to behave like that but was grabbed again.

At that point, the patron was taken outside and arrested. The officer involved did not initially recognize Giroux.

The subtly funny part of the story? Alcohol is believed to have been involved, the Sun reported.

No one saw that coming.

The 26-year-old Giroux had 28 goals and 58 assists in 82 games last season, when he was a finalist for the Hart Trophy.
