(CBS) The White Sox have signed four international teenaged prospects, they announced Wednesday.

The headliner is infielder Amado Nunez, a 16-year-old who is rated as the 26th-best international prospect by both Baseball America and MLB.com. He’s a 6-foot-2, 178-pounder from the Dominican Republic who projects as a shortstop.

The other highly regarded signee is catcher Jhoandro Alfaro, a 16-year-old who is rated as the 28th-best international prospect by MLB.com. A Columbian native, Alfaro is a 6-foot-1, 180-pounde switch hitter.

Chicago also signed infielder Ricky Mota, 16, and Felix Mercedes, 17, who are both from the Dominican Republic.
