Former High School Coach Acquitted Of Rape Charges

(CBS) – A former varsity high school basketball coach accused of sexually assaulting a young girl was acquitted Thursday of the charges.

Kevin Jones, 33, a coach at Epic Academy Charter High School was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl inside a vehicle in January 2013.

He spent six months in jail, and then was under house arrest, all the while maintaining his innocence.

"I knew from the beginning I was innocent of these charges that came up against me," Jones tells CBS 2, adding that the ordeal has been tough on his family.

Jones was fired from his coaching job; there was no immediate word on whether he'll get that post back.
