(CBS) — People who say the new O’Hare Airport runway configuration has caused their quality of life and property values to suffer were out gathering support for their cause Saturday.
WBBM’s Mike Krauser reports they filled a community room at the Edgebrook Library on the Northwest Side. They included members of the FAiR (Fair Allocation in Runways) Coalition as well as non-members.
They are demanding that the noise be spread to other communities.
“People more and more are saying ‘I am going nuts here. I am going crazy. What are we going to do?’” said Jac Charlier, co-founder of FAiR. “They are turning to the FAIR Coalition.”
He says it is the elephant in the room.
“I have never seen something spin up, kind of grow so rapidly,” Charlier said.
He says their reach is in the tens of thousands and growing. Volunteers were distributing the first of 50,000 door hangers in affect communities on Saturday.
