(CBS) — The job of keeping the streets of Gary, Ind. safe is a big one – and often a very dangerous one.
CBS 2’s Brad Edwards gets an inside look at patrolling those streets.
At the end of a solemn day in Gary, Edwards hit the streets in a city titling with violence, with the head of Lake County Sheriff Department’s gang unit — a sergeant who says they’re just trying to keep up.
“The homicide rate is out of control,” Sgt. Brian Camadeca says. “They’re shooting each other left and right.”
