Fallen Chicago Police Officers Honored At Motorcycle Ride

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police officers and supporters hit the road Sunday morning to honor fallen first responders in Chicago.

WBBM's Veronica Carter reports about a thousand motorcyclists commemorating fallen Chicago Police officers took off from the 11th District Police Station at Harrison and Kedzie on their way to the Chicago Police Memorial near Soldier Field.

Bob Gordon and his wife were there. They lost their son, officer Michael Gordon, in August 2004.

"We've got a picture here with us today and one gentleman yelled out, and it meant a lot to us, 'we're here to honor his service,' so that's why we are here, so he is remembered and all of the other fallen officers are never forgotten," Bob Gordon said.

The ride is a benefit for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
