1 Killed, 7 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and at least seven other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago on Tuesday.

The fatal shooting happened about 10 p.m. on the Near West Side.

A 17-year-old boy and two men, ages 49 and 18, were standing on a sidewalk in the 200 block of South Western Avenue when a male got out of a dark-colored sedan and opened fire, police said.

The 49-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to police.

Alvin Ivy, of the 1300 block of South Kedzie Avenue, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 10:33 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The18-year-old man was shot in the right calf and the 17-year-old was struck in the lower left leg, police said. Their conditions were stable at Stroger.

The man killed was a documented gang member, police said.

About two hours earlier, a 21-year-old man was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. At 8:05 p.m., someone got out of a vehicle in the 6600 block of South Hermitage Avenue and opened fire, striking him in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stable, police said.

An 18-year-old man was about half an hour earlier in the South Shore neighborhood. He was shot in the leg at 7:37 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Colfax Avenue and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stable, police said.

Tuesday afternoon, a 19-year-old man was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side. Someone shot him in the hand about 3:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Iowa Street, and he took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park where his condition was stable, police said.

A 37-year-old woman was shot about an hour earlier in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood. At 2:23 p.m., the woman was shot in the back in the 200 block of East 85th Street, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital where her condition was stable.

A separate Humboldt Park neighborhood shooting left a 19-year-old man injured. He was shot in the side about 12:45 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Huron Street, police said. The man, a documented gang member, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, according to police.
