Martellus Bennett Returns To Bears After Suspension

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett returned the team on Sunday, six days after an on-field altercation that led to his suspension.

Bennett slammed rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller to the ground during a play on Monday.

Bennett wasn’t in Bourbonnais after being sent home, though he did hear from Chicago coach Marc Trestman last Tuesday.

“It was a very positive conversation, and we just touched base with each other,” Trestman said. “I’ll just leave it at that.”

Last week, Trestman didn’t say what Bennett needed to do to return to the Bears.

“I’m going to leave it as day-to-day,” Trestman said.

On Sunday, Bennett told reporters he “did everything they asked me to do” during the suspension.
