CHICAGO (CBS) – A woman gave birth to a baby girl early Wednesday in a van just off the Eisenhower expressway.

The woman was on the way to the hospital when the she pulled off the expressway at Kostner Avenue, and called for help around 2:30 a.m., officials said.

Firefighters helped deliver the baby inside the van at the intersection of Kostner and Lexington Street.

The mother and baby were then taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in an ambulance. Hospital officials said mother and baby were doing fine.
