CHICAGO (STMW) – At least seven people were injured–two of them critically–in shootings on the South and West Sides Wednesday.
The latest shooting happened about 11 p.m., when two men were wounded in a drive-by attack in the Gresham neighborhood.
The men, ages 23 and 33, were standing with a group about 11 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 80th Street when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots at them, police said.
The older man was shot in the leg and the younger man was shot in the hand. Both were taken in good condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, police said.
About an hour and a half earlier, three people were shot in the Chatham neighborhood.
A 25-year-old woman and two men, ages 21 and 26, were on the back porch of a home in the 8600 block of South Ingleside about 9:30 p.m. when an unknown male emerged from an alley and opened fire, police said.
The woman was shot in the left bicep and forearm, and the 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, leg and buttocks, police said. Both were taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The other man was taken with a gunshot wound to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, according to police. A fire official originally had said he was in critical condition.
Earlier Wednesday night, a teenage boy was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood.
The 15-year-old was in the 11800 block of South Princeton about 7:45 p.m. when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, striking him in the arm and abdomen, police said.
He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stable.
Wednesday’s first shooting happened about 1:15 a.m. in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
A 17-year-old boy was walking in the 3900 block of West Grand when a group of people walked up and one of them shot the boy in the leg, police said.
His condition was stabilized at Norwegian American Hospital.
