Bears Waive WR Eric Weems

(CBS) The Bears waived veteran receiver Eric Weems on Saturday, they announced.

The move came on the same day that Chicago added eight-year veteran Santonio Holmes to their receiving mix.

Weems had been with the Bears since 2012. He was originally in the mix to replace Devin Hester at kick returner as well, but he muffed a kickoff against the Jaguars on Thursday. Weems had a total of three catches the past two years for the Bears, and he was an outsider in the chase to be Chicago's No. 3 receiver.
