White Sox Promote Carlos Rodon To Triple-A

(CBS) The White Sox have promoted left-hander Carlos Rodon, their top pick in June's amateur draft, to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, they announced.

An NC State product, Rodon will make his first start for the Knights on Tuesday. The 21-year-old Rodon had a 1.86 ERA in four appearances for high-A Winston-Salem. That included two starts and 9 2/3 innings pitched in all. Rodon made his professional debut on July 22.

The White Sox have been open to the idea of promoting Rodon to the big league club in September, though nothing is set in stone yet. That's the path Chicago took with ace Chris Sale in 2010, when he was coming out of the bullpen just a couple months after being drafted.
