Construction Worker Critically Injured After Falling From Roof

(CBS) -- A construction worker is serious condition after falling through a roof he was fixing on Chicago's near South Side, reports WBBM's John Cody.

Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says it happened shortly after noon at the Allied Medical building at 2000 South Canal.

"Got on the scene and discovered a construction worker working for a roofing firm took a fall through the roof of the building falling somewhere between 20 and 30 feet to the area below," Langford said.

Langford said the man who is around 50-years-old was alert and talking, but listed in serious to critical condition by the paramedic team which took him to Stroger County Hospital.

The worker was employed by Addison Construction.
