CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot dead and two other people were wounded in a shooting in the South Side Auburn-Gresham neighborhood Monday night, police said.

The men -- ages 20 and 26 -- and a teenage girl were on the sidewalk in the 7800 block of South Winchester about 10:25 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire, police said.

The 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The 26-year-old was shot in the leg and arm, and also taken to Stroger, where his condition had stabilized, according to police.

The girl was shot in the arm and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where her condition was stable.
