View: NIU’s New Basketball Court Is Bold

(CBS) As it continues its rebuilding process with the men’s basketball program, Northern Illinois also unveiled on Tuesday evening a rebuilt basketball court with a new design.

And it’s bold, to say the least. The new-look floor at the Convocation Center in DeKalb features a black-and-white with some fierce eyes of a Huskie over the school logo at midcourt.

The new floor also has practical purposes, too. It has increased padding to help decrease the wear and tear on the bodies of athletes, the school said.

“Anytime you have something new in your program it is exciting,” coach Mark Montgomery said in a statement. “I think it is great that we are going to have a new floor with a new look and I am excited to get the new season started.”

Now, the Huskies’ men’s team just want to win more games. They went 15-17 last season and haven’t had a winning season since 2005-’06.
