Cicero Police Nab 'No Boundaries Bandit' Suspect

(CBS) -- The roaming bank robber known as the "No Boundaries Bandit" has been captured in Cicero after a vehicle and foot chase this weekend, town officials said Monday.

Rodrigo Medellin, 31, was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and other felonies, including aggravated assault to a police officer and aggravated fleeing and eluding police.

Town spokesman Ray Hanania says Medellin is believed to be the "No Boundaries Bandit" who recently robbed 12 banks across the Chicago region. Cicero police recognized him from surveillance photos as an individual with suspected gang ties.

Authorities tracked him to Broadview on Sunday and apprehended him around 3 p.m. after a short vehicle and foot chase, Hanania said in a news release. Medellin was found in possession of a firearm, a loaded Tec 9 with a 30-round magazine.

The suspect was being questioned Monday by the FBI, Hanania said. No information was immediately available about court appearances.
