Police: Man Fatally Stabbed During West Ridge Robbery
(STMW) -- A man was fatally stabbed during a robbery late Friday in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side, police said.
About 11:35 p.m., the 20-year-old was with his girlfriend in the 6200 block of North Hoyne when several males walked up and announced a robbery, police said.
The group tried to take cellphones from the man and his girlfriend, but a struggle ensued and the 20-year-old was stabbed multiple times, police said. His family then drove him to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where he later died.
The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death early Saturday.
