6 Killed, 19 Wounded In Weekend Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six men were killed and at least 19 other people were injured in weekend shootings across the city.

Most recently, a restaurant security guard shot and killed a man who pulled a knife on him early Sunday in the Northwest Side Albany Park neighborhood.

The 47-year-old security guard told the intoxicated 36-year-old man to leave the restaurant in the 4500 block of North Kedzie a few minutes before 4 a.m., police said.

The man returned with a knife and attacked the security guard, who drew his weapon and fired shots, police said.

The 36-year-old was struck and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the fatality but his name was not immediately released.

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers on patrol near the 4500 block of South Evans heard numerous gunshots about 10 p.m. and found an unresponsive 23-year-old man shot and on the sidewalk, authorities said. The man, identified as Edward Davis of the 5200 block of South Carpenter Street, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

An hour earlier, a 19-year-old man died after a shooting in West Englewood that left two others injured.

The man, identified as Shaquille Holmes, was with a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman outside about 9 p.m. in the 7300 block of South Damen when someone got out of a car and opened fire, authorities said.

Holmes was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m., authorities said.

The woman was shot in the leg and the other man in the right arm, police said. They were both taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their conditions stabilized, police said.

Early Saturday, a man died after being shot in West Town.

About 4:10 a.m., 19-year-old Christopher Guadarrama got into a fight with someone who then shot him in the upper right chest in the 1300 block of West Chicago, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. His home address wasn't immediately known.

Guadarrama's friends found him and drove him to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:34 a.m., authorities said.

Earlier, a 64-year-old man was shot to death in an early morning robbery in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

Nabil Batroukh, 64, was leaving a store in the 1500 block of South Lawndale about 3 a.m. when he was approached by two males who tried to rob him, authorities said.

During the robbery, one of them shot the older man in the chest, police said.

Batroukh was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said. His home address wasn't immediately known.

About 5:10 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was found shot to death in the 6200 block of South Kilpatrick in the Clearing neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Giovanni Galindo, of the 10300 block of South Karlov in Oak Lawn, was dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.

At least 17 other people have been hurt in shootings since 2 a.m. on Saturday.
