Man Gets 20 Years For Stabbing Father To Death

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The son of an O'Hare Airport security officer pleaded guilty earlier this month to stabbing his father to death, and was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison.

Mason Johnson, 26, was charged in the March 23, 2013, stabbing death of his father Kenneth Johnson during a domestic dispute at the older man's home in the 11400 block of South Rockwell, authorities said previously.

Kenneth Johnson, 49, was an aviation security officer and shift supervisor at O'Hare International Airport, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.

An autopsy found he died of multiple stab and incised wounds and ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The younger Johnson was also hospitalized for injuries he suffered during the fight, police said at the time.

Mason Johnson, also of the 11400 block of South Rockwell, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder Sept. 4 before Judge James Linn, court records show.

He was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison and given credit for nearly a year and a half spent in jail since his arrest, court records show.
