Police: Man Grabbed Two Kids At SW Side Playground

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for a man who they say grabbed two children on a playground near a Southwest Side elementary school in the West Lawn neighborhood Thursday morning.

Students were outside during recess in the 6400 block of South Tripp around 11:30 am. when the man walked up to a boy and pulled him down from the playground equipment, according to a community alert from Chicago Police. Henry Lee Elementary School is listed at 6448 S. Tripp.

The man then grabbed another student and hugged her before becoming "confrontational" with school staff members and walking away southbound on Tripp, police said.

He has been seen in the park several times previously and he is known to frequent the area, police said.

He is described as a 6-foot, 200-pound white man between 50 and 60 years old. He has gray hair and a mustache, and he was wearing a jacket, long pants and glasses, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 492-3810.
