Blackhawks Trim Roster To 46

(CBS) Ahead of their preseason opener tonight against the Red Wings at home, the Blackhawks have trimmed their roster to 46 players.

Chicago assigned goalies Mac Carruth and Kent Simpson to Rockford in the AHL. It also released forward Ryan Schnell and defensemen Kirill Gotovets, Justin Holl and Zach Miskovic. All four of those players will also report to Rockford.

The Blackhawks' active roster now is comprised of 26 forwards, 16 defensemen and four goalies. Teams dress 20 players in the regular season.
