Two Teens Charged With Fatal August Shooting Near CPD Headquarters
(STMW) -- Two teenagers have been charged with the shooting death of a man about a block away from the Chicago Police Department Headquarters last month in Bronzeville on the South Side.
The boy and girl, both 16, each face one count of first-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 15 shooting, Chicago Police announced Saturday morning.
The boy shot a 25-year-old man multiple times about 11:35 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Indiana, police said.
Walter Neely, of the 2000 block of South State, was shot in the abdomen and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The girl's role in the attack wasn't immediately known.
The shooting happened about one block east of police headquarters at 3510 S. Michigan Ave.
The boy is from the 3800 block of South Michigan and the girl lives in the 2700 block of South Dearborn, police said. Their names were withheld because of their ages.
They were scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
