Students Hospitalized After Pepper Spray Incident At Ogden International

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Fire Department says 15 children were taken to hospitals as a precaution after pepper spray was released at a Near West Side school.

WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller reports it happened at the West Campus of the Ogden International School of Chicago, at 1250 W. Erie St.

Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said pepper spray was accidentally released in a classroom.

At least 15 students were taken to hospitals to be checked out, but Langford said they were in good condition.

CPS spokesman Bill McCaffrey said in a statement, "School officials were alerted to an accident involving pepper spray at Ogden International School this morning. The administration acted swiftly and worked with the Chicago Fire Department to ensure student safety."
