5 NFL Week 6 JB Locks Against The Spread

by Jake Brown (@JBSportsRadio)

It felt good to get back to winning ways last week in a wild Week 5 in the NFL. I went 4-1 to bring my overall record on the season to a respectable 15-10. The Colts just squeezed by on Thursday to cover in a 33-28 win over the Texans. Week 6 brings some intriguing matchups to keep an eye on. Let's break down my JB Locks against the spread.

1. Broncos (3-1) @ Jets (1-4) (+9.5)

Everything surrounding the Jets right now is a disaster. Their quarterback situation is in shambles. Geno Smith and Michael Vick both could not put points on the board in San Diego last week. Their defense is always on the field too long and continues to get exposed in the secondary. Rex Ryan's job is on the line. All signs point to a blowout at MetLife Stadium this weekend. Peyton Manning and the Broncos should have themselves a field day. Lock in the Broncos to win by double digits.

2. Chargers (4-1) @ Raiders (0-4) (+7.5)

The Chargers are a legit Super Bowl contender. Yes, I said it. This team looks really good on both sides of the ball. If their running backs could just get healthy, they are a dark horse to go on a playoff run in the AFC. That doesn't bode well for a Raiders team with Tony Sparano taking over this Sunday in Oakland. Derek Carr has been better than Geno Smith this season, but he still hasn't been very good. The Raiders just don't have enough firepower on offense, and their defense is bad. Chargers win in a blowout.

3. Packers (3-2) @ Dolphins (2-2) (+3.5)

The Packers are getting in a groove, and that should scare the rest of the league. When Aaron Rodgers is on, there's almost nobody better. The Dolphins still have questions on their offense, and Ryan Tannehill has been very inconsistent. It's hard to judge what this Dolphins team is exactly at this point. They are probably just a middle-of-the-pack team in the league that will finish around 8-8. The Packers should use the nice weather in South Beach to their advantage. They will lock in another win by a touchdown.

4. Patriots (3-2) @ Bills (3-2) (+3.5)

I'm still not buying the Buffalo Bills just yet. They used inept kicking by the Lions in Detroit to win last week. They are starting Kyle Orton, who is by no means bad, but he's over the hill. The Patriots are back. They always get off to a slow start. Last week, they put a beat down on a really good Bengals team. They are starting to click on offense. The Buffalo crowd will be rowdy, but they aren't containing Brady and Gronk. It will be a tight one until the finish, but the Pats win by a score.

5. 49ers (3-2) @ Rams (1-3) (+3.5)

Austin Davis almost led a miraculous comeback for the Rams against the Eagles last week. The third-string QB has been surprisingly good since taking over for Shaun Hill. The 49ers are back in a rhythm though, and there's no need to buy the off-the-field and locker room rumors. This team has too much talent for the Rams, who are a couple of losses from being out of the race in the NFC. This game being in St. Louis is only going to help Colin Kaepernick. He will run wild in the dome. Lock in the 49ers by a touchdown.
