Northern Illinois Cow Named Tallest In The World

(CBS) -- It's official: the tallest cow in the entire world is less than two hours away from downtown Chicago, reports WBBM's John Cody.

According the Guinness Book of World Records, Blosom, a cow taller than Bulls star Derrick Rose, is the tallest in the world.

Sometimes during the summertime I'll borrow from the neighbors a couple of calves," said Patty Hanson, Blosom's owner.

Clearly, no cow is an island, even if she is a world record holder.

"Most Holsteins are about eight inches shorter than her. She measures in at six foot four inches at her shoulder," Hanson said.

Hanson said the veterinarian had to stand on a ladder to measure Blssom the cow for the Guinness Book of World Records.

"Actually, if you move the measure stick back along her back she goes up even higher," Hanson said.

Hanson says Blossom serves as greeter at her farm in Memory Lane Crafting Retreat house just outside Orangeville, Illinois.

Blosom will be included in the 2016 edition of the "Guinness Book of World Records."
