Water Main Damage Prompts Boil Order In Robbins

(CBS) – A boil order remained in effect for south suburban Robbins after construction crews ruptured a water main.

Thousands of residents were without water for hours Thursday.

Mayor Tyrone Ward says a construction crew working on installing street lights accidentally drilled into a 12-inch water main at 135th and Kedzie.

The village gave two gallons of water to those who lined up for it.

Even after water service was restored, the inconvenience wasn't over. Residents were told to boil their drinking water through Friday evening to be safe.
