How Marc Trestman Compares To Other Bears Coaches

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Where does Marc Trestman rate in the post-George Halas era?
The Bears' loss on Sunday was bad -- historically bad for the franchise.
The 38 points that Chicago allowed in the game's opening 30 minutes were the most in franchise history allowed in a first half.
The Patriots scored 21 points in a 57-second stretch late in the second quarter to blow the game open. It was only the fourth time since the 1970 merger that a team had scored three touchdowns in less than a minute, according to the Tribune's Brad Biggs.
And while Bears' nation is calling for a coaching change, Trestman's winning percentage places him on par with -- or better than -- most of the coaches since Founding Father George Halas stepped aside in 1967.
Only two -- Mike Ditka and Lovie Smith -- have had winning records in that time.

If the Bears somehow managed to win one of the games they lost in the past 1 1/2 seasons, Trestman would leap to No. 3 on the list.
Of course, the opposite is true as well. A couple of losses would put in in the conversation with Jim Dooley and Abe Gibron.
However, at this early stage, his numbers so far aren't as horrible -- at least historically speaking -- as people might believe.
